The Congress of Aboriginal Peoples (CAP) achieves a milestone in 2016 as it celebrates its 45th anniversary.  CAP has played a crucial role in advocating for the rights and interests of Métis and non-status Indians living off-reserve.

Since 1971 the battles have been numerous. In this video you will learn about the many struggles and Court battles and about the chronology of events that took place over the years.

As well you will learn about the 17-year epic battle that led to the most important decisions of them all. In April 2016, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled in the case of Daniels vs. Canada in favour of Métis and non-status Indians. As said by former National Chief Dwight Dorey, “this decision, likely the most important in Canada’s history, will unlock human potential.”

We would appreciate your comments and suggestions on what the Daniels decision means for you. Share your thoughts in the space below.
